When I find a fabric I love, I want every woman, every body type, every shape, to love it and wear it as much as I do
To me, fashion is as much about geometry as it is anything else. The challenge is to take the many shapes and sizes we all are and find fabrics to enhance all body types.
I work from a practical nuts and bolts perspective with 5 shapes in mind (must be the down to earth Virgo in me) and from there the creativity kicks in.
When I find a fabric I love, I want every woman, every body type, every shape, to love it and wear it. All these elements influence my designs when styling, draping, fitting garments. I’m thinking, “How can my customer wear this? Where will she wear it? How will it drape in a flattering way. How can we make it special, different from what’s already out there?” For me this is a daily challenge and one I truly love.
Our fit model is 5’6″ and a size 8. She’s our size small. She has curves, she’s a real person, a mom of teenagers, with a real body. Not an easy thing to find in the fashion business! From the size small we grade up to an XL always keeping all sizes in mind.
